There is a great story behind this photo. About a mile in on the trail, we saw this pile of what we thought was bear scat - fairly fresh so the bear couldn't be too far away. I took a picture of it for posterity's sake. Along the way we ran into two hikers who were from the British Isles judging from their accents. They asked if we had seen any bears as they were quite frightened by the idea of meeting up with one on the trail. I mentioned that we did see some fresh bear scat on the trail. "What's that?" they asked. "Well, I just happen to have a picture of it." So there I was showing two people who had travel thousands of miles to be there a small photo of bear scat on the lcd screen of my camera.
